Aktual was founded in 1985 by Romain De Baerdemaker, who, after fifteen years of experience as a foreman, decided to follow his own path. With the trust of clients like BARCO and ATAG, Romain built a solid business together with his wife Jeannine, which quickly expanded beyond national borders.
In 2002, their son Kristof De Baerdemaker joined the company, marking the start of a new growth phase. Since the takeover in 2011, Kristof and his partner Ann have been leading the company, grounded in the founder’s values and vision. In 2024, Aktual sadly said goodbye to its founder Romain, whose legacy continues to inspire the company every day.

Looking at Today and Tomorrow
Today, Aktual has 40 permanent employees and continues to grow, with no less than eight vacancies open (come join us!). Based in Evergem, the team serves clients worldwide with a full-service offering: from creative concepts and reusable stand construction to inspiring showrooms, ecological decoration, hospitality solutions, and everything in between. At Aktual, clients always receive the “royal treatment” – from concept to reuse.
Aktual proudly shares that some clients have trusted them from the very beginning – for forty years – thanks to their quality, innovation, and personal approach. Trends, materials, and technologies may change, but the mission remains the same: to build with craftsmanship, passion, and vision.
Celebrate!
On June 12, 2025, Aktual kicks off the festivities with “Boost Your Trade Fair Sales 2025”, a spectacular, interactive sales training for clients and partners. Internationally renowned speaker Han Leenhouts will share his insights under the catchy title: The 10 Commandments of the Trade Fair Gods.
The next day, on June 13, 2025, an unforgettable celebration follows for colleagues, clients, and friends – entirely in the style of the Roaring Twenties. A tribute to the past, the present, and above all the future: creating opportunities.
