Why participate SMM (SHIPBUILDING, MACHINERY & MARINE TECHNOLOGY)?

SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology) is an international trade fair for the maritime industry and takes place every two years at Hamburg Messe und Congress. The event has a history of more than sixty years and has grown to become one of the most important platforms for shipbuilding, offshore engineering, port logistics and maritime technology. With thousands of professionals from more than a hundred countries, SMM offers an environment for knowledge sharing, innovation and strategic collaboration.

The exhibition floor has more than 2,000 exhibitors and presents a wide range of products and solutions, from marine engines and propulsion systems to digital applications and sustainable fuels. Innovation plays a central role, with zones such as the AI Centre and Future Fuels Area, showcasing technologies for automation, data analytics and alternative energy. Visitors will gain insight into how the sector is responding to challenges such as energy transition, emission reduction and digitalisation.

The programme includes conferences such as the Maritime Future Summit and MS&D (Maritime Security & Defence), complemented by workshops and panel discussions on current topics such as cybersecurity, supply chain optimisation and international regulation. These sessions provide practical insights for companies looking to modernize their processes and make them more sustainable.

With more than 40,000 visitors and a broad international field of participants, SMM is a B2B event that plays a key role in connecting shipyards, technology partners, policymakers and service providers. The Hamburg location offers excellent accessibility by train, metro and plane, making the event attractive to international participants and a strategic platform for the future of the maritime industry.
